Empowering African Women with the
Competence, Confidence, and Connections
for SUCCESS
Pan-African Women Empowerment Network (PAWEN) equips African women with the tools, support, and networks needed to lead and succeed in business and careers.
Across Africa, women continue to face structural barriers that limit their full participation in economic and leadership systems. According to the World Bank, women entrepreneurs face an estimated $42 billion financing gap, while fewer than one in four senior leadership positions across the continent are held by women. These constraints limit access to capital, markets, and decision making spaces, slowing growth and excluding women from shaping the institutions and economies they sustain. PAWEN exists to change this reality.
We design and deliver high impact programs that equip African women with the competence, confidence, and connections to grow businesses, lead institutions, and shape systems.
Our work focuses on four interconnected areas:
Entrepreneurship Development
Supporting women to start, grow, and scale profitable, sustainable, and investment ready businesses through practical training, mentorship, and access to networks and capital.
Leadership Development
Preparing women to lead teams, organisations, and institutions by strengthening executive capability, strategic influence, and board readiness.
Agri Food Systems Leadership
Empowering women farmers and agri entrepreneurspreneurs to build climate resilient enterprises, access markets and finance, and lead the transformation of Africa’s agri food systems.
Recognition and Visibility
Recognising and celebrating African women driving excellence and impact across entrepreneurship, leadership, and social change, while reshaping narratives around women’s leadership and impact.
